Recently, staff from the National Low Income Housing Coalition met with staffers in Senator Richard Durbin's office. The topic of discussion was the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, or S. 190. This bill includes language to create an Affordable Housing Fund. It has already been passed by the House of Representatives. Now the Senate needs to take action.
Many Americans in Illinois and around the country are facing a housing crisis. It is imperative that Congress create an Affordable Housing Fund NOW!
Please call Senator Durbin's office ASAP and ask him to take action on S. 190. Let him know how important affordable housing is to your community and ask him to make sure that language about an Affordable Housing Fund remains in the bill.
